Rethink Hunger September 30th DID YOU KNOW? --One out of every eight Americans struggles with hunger. --Approximately 25,000 persons die of hunger and hunger related causes every day. That's over 1,000 men, women, and children dying every hour of every day. What can YOU do? The students of Wesley will be promoting awareness for Hunger Action Month out on the Main Quad next Thursday, September 30th from 10 am until 2 pm. We are looking for volunteers to help set up (9-10am), sit at our table, pass out fliers, and clean up (2-3pm). If you are interested, please sign up here. We will also be taking donations for the Wesley Evening Food Pantry. UPDATED--Mission Trip to Thailand It has been confirmed! We will be taking our mission trip to Nonthaburi, Thailand the first couple weeks in January. We will be organizing and running a VBS program for orphans with disabilities. Visit www.ccdthailand.org to learn more about the Rainbow Orphanage where we will be staying. The estimated cost of the trip is between $2600 and $3000. We will be doing a lot of fundrasing to hopefully pay about half of that cost. If you are at all interested, you MUST attend one of the following informational meetings: Thursday, October 7th at 7:30pm or Sunday, October 17th at 3:30pm Passport Information If you are interested and you do not currently have a valid passport, you should get one! It will take a couple of months to process the application, so you should apply sooner rather than later. Passports are good for ten years, so even if you don't end up going, it may come in handy later on. Friday, October 15th -- Save the date! Fall is officially here! What better way to celebrate than to have a cookout and hayride! On Friday, October 15th, we will be meeting students from the Purdue Wesley Foundation at Turkey Run State Park for an evening of fun and fellowship. There will be hot dogs and brats cooked over an open fire, a hayride, and of course, s'mores! Make sure to keep that evening open if you are interested in coming. More details to come. Haunted House Planning Meetings It's that time of year again! Weekly haunted house planning meetings will be held Fridays at 7:30 pm in the Etc. Coffeehouse and Sundays at 12:30 pm at Etc. A light lunch will be provided Sunday afternoons. September Service Project THIS SUNDAY! This semester we are planning on doing a service project once a month. The service project for the month of September will be held this Sunday, September 19 after the contemporary service (around 12:30). We will be doing some easy landscaping work around the grounds of Wesley. You can bring a change of clothes if you want, but it should not be too messy. Hamburgers, veggie burgers, and some other snacks will be available throughout the afternoon for volunteers. We hope to see you there! Yes we have International Coffeehouse this Friday & EVERY Friday 4pm -6 pm at the Etc. Coffeehouse. Located on Green st. and Goodwin ave.

Wesley Potluck! This weekend Wesley (main building ETC is in) will be holding one of it's Annual Pot Lucks (FREE FOOD) this is also a chance for you to show off your skill...or lack of, cooking! If you would like to make something to bring from your country share with others. Or if you would just like to come and eat good American home made cooking! (Far better than eating out at expensive restaurants! Where: ETC Cafe' upstairs in the great hall When: Sunday 12th 12:30pm (Afternoon) What to bring : yourself, or ( something to share! ) Japan House: Next Week there is a chance for us to go to the Japan house before it gets too cold and Flowers start to fade! The temperature is getting Cooler in the afternoon's which is the perfect time to go outside and visit the Arboretum and the Japan House and Gardens! More Details at the Friday 4pm - 6pm Coffeehouse Hours! Coming up in the near future is the Halloween Haunted House: This is a GIANT Group Event (bigger than the Canoe Trip! ) Halloween is the biggest Holiday on a College Campus, and U of I is very well known for it. Wesley Foundation has the biggest haunted house on campus, netting around $3,000 in Donations for the Food Pantry Charity, and is A LOT of fun!
