Upcoming Service Projects

Mid-September – ReTHINK Hunger

Wesley is raising awareness, money and responses to hunger both locally and internationally.  September is Hunger Awareness month and we will have a presentation laid out on the Quad.  Planning for this event will begin quickly after classes begin.  Bring your friends!  We need as many volunteers as possible!  Day and time TBA.

10/27/11 through 10/29/11 – Haunted Wesley

Each year the Wesley Foundation is transformed into the ONLY haunted house located on campus.  All proceeds go to the Wesley Food Pantry, with over $5000 being raised in the last two years.  This is a HUGE undertaking and WE NEED YOU.  If you want to get involved in any way… from room planning, set building or advertising, all the way to applying makeup, being a character in the haunted house or being a guide… LET US KNOW!!!

Many more details to come!!!

Recurring Service Opportunities

International Coffeehouse

Friday afternoons (4-6pm) people from around the world gather for an informal time of conversation, coffee, snacks, cultural exchange and fun. If you are available to come in and chat with individuals, international students are always eager to practice their English, learn about American culture and share information about their own. We meet in the Etc. Coffeehouse at the east end of our building.

Wesley Food Pantry

On the 3rd Thursday of each month the Wesley Food Pantry provides a week’s worth of groceries to over a 1000 persons each month. Most of our volunteer needs revolve around the monthly food distribution and setup. We need people at different times, from mid-day thru evening, to unload, move and build those mini-mountains. The setup also requires printing and posting signs, keeping inventory and organizing the space. On the day of the pantry, we need people to guide clients through the process, help them move food to vehicles, entertain their kids, and break down boxes. In between pantry days, we can still use you: communicating needs, speaking to groups, organizing and training volunteers, and raising much-needed funds.  If you can donate some of your time, even just an hour or two, please visit the website above and sign up… we’d love to have you.
